The GST is rising!!! Where is my progress package!!! I don't benefit!!!

Disclaimer: The next message I'm going to blog about is to express my views for the progress package and the increase in GST. This blog does not criticise the government for misallocation of funds. This blog does not force the government to change their policy. This blog allow the government to hear from the people about their views on the government plans.

Dear PM Lee,

I was made to known that the GST is going to rise again, however, what is shocking to me is that the GST policy isn't going to help me a lot. Last year, before the elections, I was told that the government will be giving out their surpluses to the people. However, I was disappointed that I was not a part of the people to receive the surplus as I'm only 20 (minimum age is 21). I've paid for the 5% GST, I'm one of the last batch to serve the army for a long time of 2 years 4 months, but I don't receive any benefits from the government. And now, the GST is going to rise to 7%, and I'm going to relatively lose out from it as I'm not from a lower income family. You said that this rise will give benefits to paying for the tertiary education. I was thinking about this offset so that I can be paying less for my university fees next year (much less than the next batch coming in). Will we get a progress package next year in view of this increase. I, as a 1985 batch, has not been benefiting from the ERS and the progress package. I hope you will take a note about this point of view.

On the brighter side, I want to thank the government for paying 90% of my school fees and the $100 NS bonus that I received. Singapore is still a nice place to stay in. Wishing you all the best in bringing Singapore ahead of the future.

From your fellow citizen.
